You are not born with your habits. They are just an example of how the subconscious learns to work automatically.
Some habits are useful, like checking the road before we cross or tying our shoelaces without a second thought. Other habits can be destructive or annoying but they can be changed by helping the mind perceive and follow different and more beneficial patterns of behaviour. Common habits are:
- Nail biting
- Thumb sucking
- Tooth-grinding (bruxism)
- Nose or skin-picking
- Smoking and Drinking (can also be addictions)
